This cutting board is handcrafted in the UK from solid American Black Walnut, American Cherry, and American Maple using edge-grain construction. Each board is made individually, with carefully selected hardwoods to ensure strength, stability, and consistency.
Edge-Grain Construction:
Edge-grain boards are constructed with the long grain of the wood facing upward, creating a durable and stable surface well suited to everyday kitchen prep. Compared to end-grain boards, edge-grain boards are typically lighter, thinner, and easier to handle, while still offering excellent durability for regular use.
Juice Groove:
This board features a precision-cut juice groove around the edge, designed to catch liquids from meats, fruits, and vegetables. It helps keep your work surface clean and reduces mess during food preparation.
Finish:
Each board is finished with multiple coats of pure tung oil, followed by a beeswax top coat. This food-safe finish nourishes the wood, helps protect against moisture, and enhances the natural colour and grain of the walnut.
Ideal Use:
• Everyday chopping and food preparation
• Vegetables, meats, herbs, and bread
• Lighter and easier to handle than end-grain boards
All surfaces and edges are carefully sanded to a smooth, comfortable finish.
Care:
To maintain the board’s appearance and longevity, periodically apply a food-safe mineral oil or board conditioner when the surface appears dry. Regular oiling helps prevent drying, cracking, and staining.
Care Instructions:
- Hand wash only with warm water and mild soap.
- Do not soak the board or leave it sitting in water.
- Dry immediately after washing with a towel.
- Never place the board in a dishwasher.
- Avoid exposing the board to excessive heat or direct sunlight for prolonged periods.
- Store flat on a dry surface.
- Minor knife marks are normal and part of the board’s natural ageing process.
