White oak, maple and purple heart edge grain board

This cutting board is made from american white oak, maple and purple heart using edge grain construction. White Oak is a durable hardwood with a light golden tone and a distinctive grain pattern that offers both strength and character. Maple provides a smooth, pale contrast with excellent stability and fine texture. Purpleheart introduces a bold touch of natural colour, deepening to a rich violet hue as it ages.

Each board is hand-finished with multiple coats of pure tung oil, which penetrates deep into the grain to enhance the natural colour and pattern of the wood while providing lasting protection against moisture and everyday use. A final coat of beeswax is applied to seal the surface and give it a smooth, food-safe finish.

Juice grooves can be added if requested. These are routed into the top face of the board and are designed to catch liquids during food prep. Non-slip rubber feet are also available as an option. These help keep the board stable during use and allow airflow underneath to reduce moisture build-up, which can lead to warping, cracking, or uneven surfaces over time.

This board is suitable for everyday chopping, food prep, or serving. Every board is hand-sanded, and all surfaces and edges are sanded to a clean, smooth and comfortable finish.

Care: Over time, the protective finish on the board will naturally fade with regular use and washing. To keep the wood nourished and maintain its rich appearance, it’s recommended to re-coat the surface with food-grade mineral oil every 2–3 months. Regular oiling helps prevent the wood from drying out or cracking, ensuring your board stays smooth, durable, and conditioned.
