This cutting board is handcrafted in the UK from American White Oak, Hard Maple, and Purpleheart, using edge-grain construction. Each board is made individually, with carefully selected hardwood to ensure strength, stability, and consistency.

White Oak provides a light golden tone and distinctive grain, offering excellent durability and natural character. Maple adds a smooth, pale contrast with fine texture and stability, while Purpleheart introduces a bold accent that deepens to a rich violet hue over time.

Edge-Grain Construction:
The board is constructed using edge-grain orientation, with the long grain of the wood facing upward. This creates a durable, stable cutting surface well suited to everyday food preparation, while remaining lighter and easier to handle than end-grain boards.

Finish:
Each board is finished with multiple coats of pure tung oil, which penetrates deep into the grain to enhance the natural colour and pattern of the wood while helping protect against moisture and everyday use. A final coat of beeswax is applied to seal the surface and create a smooth, food-safe finish.

Optional Juice Groove:
A juice groove can be added on request. Routed into the top face, it is designed to catch liquids during food preparation without reducing usable cutting space.

Ideal Use:
Everyday chopping and food preparation
Vegetables, meats, herbs, and bread
Designed for regular kitchen use — not decorative only

Care:

To maintain the board’s appearance and longevity, periodically apply a food-safe mineral oil or board conditioner when the surface appears dry. Regular oiling helps prevent drying, cracking, and staining.

Care Instructions:

  • Hand wash only with warm water and mild soap.
  • Do not soak the board or leave it sitting in water.
  • Dry immediately after washing with a towel.
  • Never place the board in a dishwasher.
  • Avoid exposing the board to excessive heat or direct sunlight for prolonged periods.
  • Store flat on a dry surface.
  • Minor knife marks are normal and part of the board’s natural ageing process.
