This cutting board is handcrafted in the UK from American White Oak using traditional end grain construction. Each board is made individually, with every piece of hardwood hand-selected to ensure strength, stability, and consistency.
As oak is a natural material, each board will feature unique variations in colour and grain, meaning no two boards will ever look exactly alike.
Why White Oak:
American White Oak is a strong, dense hardwood known for its attractive grain and natural durability. Its tight, closed-grain structure and high tannin content help limit moisture absorption, making it more resistant to water ingress and long-term wear than many other hardwoods. This natural resistance makes White Oak ideal for cutting boards intended for heavy, everyday kitchen use.
End Grain Construction:
End-grain boards are built with the wood fibres oriented vertically. When you cut, the fibres part slightly under the blade and then close back up, reducing wear on both the knife edge and the board’s surface.
Finish:
The board is finished with multiple coats of pure tung oil, followed by a beeswax top coat. This combination nourishes the wood, protects against moisture, and creates a smooth, food-safe surface that highlights the natural character of the oak.
Optional Juice Groove:
Juice grooves can be added if requested. These are routed into the top face of the board and are designed to catch liquids during food preparation.
Ideal Use:
Daily chopping and food prep
Vegetables, meats, herbs and bread
Designed for heavy kitchen use, not decorative only.
Care:
To maintain the board’s appearance and longevity, re-oil periodically using a food-safe oil when the surface appears dry. Regular oiling helps prevent drying, cracking, and staining. Detailed care instructions are included with every board.
